OK here is the graphics demo

Post by Tabulanis »

I have decided to stopp production of this demo so be advised it is not fineshed but seeing as how it never will be I thought I would make it available. I am looking for comments and suggextions and questions about some things I might have missed so in the interests of the later I will declare a few known issues.

Collision is about half done.
Virgil is being used becuase I dont have a good shadow guy working yet.
If it is killing you frame rate turn off the shadows. (If it is still killing your frame rate tell me.)

in certain parts the demos textures are not quite lined up.
I have found that using a opengl driver works wonders for frame rate but kills the graphic quality.

Features...
Soft shadows.
Textured fog effects.
I room with an alpha'ed mirror effect on floor. (Looking for a better way to do this one.

Origional music, textures, actors.

Download it here.

Same here I tried all the different video modes, and played with the setting with no luck. I'm on a pretty up to date machine as well.

You know what its probably the video
Edit the reality factory ini to get rid of it. I bet thats it. I used the micosoft MP4 codec.
It works here but I bet thats it.

WOOOOWWW!!! Amazing things can be done with RF! ...if you have TeH SkiLLz. That is just AWESOME!

It really is the video that causes the crash. I disabled that in the RealityFactory.ini file and it worked like a dream.

By the way I had some performance problems... my framerates were like 10-20 fps with the shadows. I got Athlon XP 2800+ (2GHz) processor and Ati Radeon 9800 Pro graphics card.

yes I got it to work also by getting rid of Logosm2

Amazing work!

Great textures and lighting from what I've seen so far.
But on my computer at work its very choppy.
My work system has a pretty poor vid card btw
I'll try it tonight on my home system.

Keep up the great work.

GOT IT WORKING.....

load in the "RealityFactory.INI" from "Update072Ato075" change the line "StartLevel=MenuReplyDemo.bsp" to
"StartLevel=Demo.bsp" and it worked.

I got it to work by removing the cutscene. The only thing I didn't like about the demo is when this happened. But thats only because your not finished with collision. so no complaint here. Btw I could watch all the cutscenes with windows media player so I'm not sure why It wouldn't play.
