that looks really good. everything looks a bit flat though. i think the texture needs some lighting, but i could be completely wrong.

Looks great. I agree the texture looks flat, but for a first try it looks awsome! :D

i know im being a pain but how exactly would you go about making it better?

i tried curving the handle at the edges a little but i couldnt see the difference too much, especialy for another 50 polys, i didnt think it was worth it.

and a quick question, can guns be bump mapped? because i think that would help alot.

i forgot to weld all the verticies up together but it looks a little better with them welded up.

i textured it within milkshape, im just wondering a good way to texture things cos milkshape seems prety limited.

The edges of the gun shouldn't be a problem after you export, cuz there is a auto smoth.

But if you want to make it rounder i suggest making a vertex in the midle of the gun and maving them out. (or moving the mesh in)

"i textured it within milkshape, im just wondering a good way to texture things cos milkshape seems prety limited."

Do you mean unwrap?
If not this is a good texturing program.

http://www.gimp.org/ (Didn't use it but i hear good things)

If you need unwraping tools.

http://www.polygonal-design.fr/e_unfold/index.php (also did't use it but seems good) ;)

There is a free version.

[edit]

If you'r gun is 100% flat you can extrude so you get the midle vertex without too much work. :P

this is an un textured view of the gun.

and i just used the materials in the tab on the right (that wont make any sence at all if u havnt got milkshape, sorry) and just took the picture i worked from and used it as the texture.

Oh ok so the texture is a basic plane. (i Didn't use milkshape before)

See if the handle edges are still a problem after it's exported.
If it is add some extra vetrex is the midle of the handle.

See some free weapon models if you'r not sure what i mean.

You can download a free p99 (textured) model from this site.

wel here it is, the handle looks alot better, i curved it, the problem i had last time was that there wasnt any smoothing gropus asigned to it so it looked blokish, but now it looks sweeter :D any more improvments.

poly = 302

quick question, can you have bump mapping on a weapon and if so the relevent document in the manual?

if not will RF2 be able to support this?
