Studio Setup

Hey...it's nice having a sound forum now.

It's my primary focus in game development. I can finally answer questions with confidence.

Anyways, I was just wondering if there were any other sound designers and composers on this board. If so, what kind of studio setup are you using? Mine is:

well, we have a simple studio setup for my band. it's not the best, but we've been able to record two tracks for our first album.

HARDWARE:
Fender Passport PA system (acts as a mixing board)
Shure SM57 mics (not 100% sure about this)
ESP Viper and ESP Ec series Guitars

SOFTWARE:
Audacity (simple program, but it's really all we've needed)

Hey...it doesn't have to be complicated. It just needs to serve it's purpose.

I play in a band also. I didn't list my guitars and stuff, so I will now:

Guitars

Audacity is good for recording. There are other free programs out there that are better for recording though. Have a look at Kristal Audio Engine. You can find a bunch of free plugins around also. Just do a search for "Free VST Plugins".

Progressive Rock (Dream Theater and Rush type stuff).

I play the saxaphone, drums and a little piano.
Haven't gotten into recording stuff yet.
