and a bloody pain aswel.... i still belive that my version is 100% correct, and i cant see how the film's sword can be correct unless they have different models that look similar and so the average person wouldnt notice, on the second sword's handle in one part of the film it seems fater than in others, i have converted mesurements in different scenes into ratios to get a ratio of height:width, height:depth and width:depth and in the final scenes the ahndle seems to become fater or is sunk into the original sword somehow. this cant be possible due to there being no gap to sink into so i have gone for an inbetween mesurment.
just a warning to you for when you make it and i hope yours goes well and good luck.

I didn't realize that it fit like
in till I looked into it.
I still don't get how it stays together. I'll have to post ours when we get done. We are using autocad to model it.

neither do i lol. afterall it is a fantasy film, and it has blue energy coming from the sword at times so it may be magical, magnetic, or something else behind the hand guard that i missed but i cant see it being something in the handguard as that actualy animates iteslf, it folds and unfolds itself so if you find out i would be very interested.

Sorry its taken soooooooooo long to post a comment on this I actually thawt i did! any way its GREAT I loved the film, and your sword is beautiful, It would look great textured though!
Any way good job you realy are a very talented modeller!!!
(just curious is this done in MS? I could never make it so good with MilkShape! and 3Dmax is too pricy! )
@Jonas are you at a graphic desighn school? Is auto cad free? I might like to experiment with it also does it export into formats compatible with RF? I heard its good for high presision level geometry but am not sure!

Nope AutoCad is made by AutoDesk, which I definatly does not believe in free stuff To the best of my knowledge its like $1,615.00 for just an upgrade So Imagine its like 3,000$ like 3d max is. You can get a free 30 day trial.

yep i made it in milkshape, and autocad i belive made a 3d programme called prodesctop, wich actualy gave a copy to my old school for free! and my teacher sed that we could install it on our home computers if we wanted, the only problem was at the time i had a 233mhz cpu and 16mb ram, so low spec it struggled to run internet explorer so had no chance with this 3d modeling tools.
i did try texturing it but im not that good at it even tho i have paint shop pro and have recently aquired photoshop cs i struggle to make decent complex textures so any tutorals would be nice.
as i have not textured the model all detail is down to pollys and alot of them.
