each tree has 260-280 pollys each with the same 256x256 bmp trunk at the moment, need to sort the trunks out, and a 256x256 tga for the leaves. i have 44 trees in that arena with a frame rate of about 8, this is with a 2.6Ghz cpu and 256mb ram the ram is also spit and shared with my graphics card. i am now looking to use the lod function to improve this frame rate drematicly (i hope)

Very nice looking trees! I've been learning to model trees myself too. The poly counts are good. Just mess around with LOD a bit and you'll get decent framerates too. :D
Pain is only psychological.
