"styer" is also a german company i believe
It's Steyr Mannlicher and it's an Austrian firm, not German.

oh, you are right.
i was citing from memory.
and i still think that the germans make cool guns.

i also think its cool to design unique wepons because it gives you an oppritunity to call them whatever you want and make up companies and origins.
here are some nice h&k designs

Yeah! I love the MP5, especially Kurz! And the Socom (the pistol is a Socom, right?) is definately one of the coolest handguns out there. :P

I also want to play it safe and not name weapons after their real counterparts. The names may be copyrighted and using them in a game might be illegal or something. I'm not sure.

fps, you lucky guy!
I'm quite fanatic about guns but I haven't had many oppoturnities to actually shoot them. I've only shot with some hunting rifles and one revolver. Don't remember the model but I believe it was .44 caliber. I don't like the fact that people are killed with firearms every day, but for some reason the mechanics behind all that firepower fascinate me.

Then some of my opinions...
The Desert Eagle: Possibly the coolest handgun ever made! Definately one of my favourites. However, I wouldn't pick it in a combat situation. Big, heavy, loud, huge muzzleflash, small magazine etc. I think it's designed to be more of a hunting weapon. It's a great gun in to be used in a game, though. It has the killer looks and legendary reputation.

The Colt M1911: I really like this one, too. No wonder it served in the U.S. army for so long. In my game the Hawker pistol is actually based on the Colt Double Eagle, which in turn is based on the M1911.

i forgot to check this post for a while.
srry.
yes, the desert eagle is large to the point where it is almost impractical for much more than target shooting.
however, in armed combat it allows for a different kind of balance.
basic would be; an assault rifle and a high capacity light (9mm pistol) pistol.
if you were skilled you could instead have a high capacity (100 shot clip or greater) highly customised (scoped, silenced) sub machine gun, and a large caliber pistol such as the desert eagle.
this would allow you to carry much more ammo, have almost doubled flexibility of movement, similar range, more effictive close range combat, and possible much more firepower as far as laying effective supressing fire and damage per shot (at close ranges).
pistol bullets are normally larger than rifle shell. (in diameter).

also Juutis,
I too am greatly saddened by the fact that innocent people are brought harm by the very tools invented to protect them.
the mechanics are facinating, along with the history.
although it is a bloody history.
i am afraid to say that most advancements in weapons are products of warfare.
that is to say, we dont make killing machines just for show. (not counting the cold war).

YELP!!!!

I explained this in the post where I first told about the demo game on page 3 of this thread. I don't blame you though. I know I wouldn't read through 10 pages of text if I wasn't sure the info I need is somewhere there.
Using the inventory:
1.) Press 'I', an inventory screen should come up
2.) Drag a weapon to the slots in the top part of the inventory screen
3.) Press 'I' again
4.) Select a weapon (primary, secondary, melee) with the keys 1, 2 and 3

You may equip one primary, one melee and two secondary weapons at a time. The 'Left' and 'Right' slots are for left and right secondary weapons.
However, dual wielding decreases accuracy and increases reload times.

I can't promise anything yet, but possibly before the year 2008. We shall see... :)
