Simple....the reasoning depends on age group. 18 and under will want to because they've played one and it's cool. They have a lot of ideas that they would like implemented but because the game they are playing is closed source, the next logical thing to do is make your own. I mean after all...it will run on just about any hardware out there. DSL should be able to handle the traffic also.darksmaster923 wrote:y does everyone want an mmorpg?
19 and over is for the same reason as the 18 and under but they also see $$$. They think "hey, they are making $15 a month from me, there are 1 million subscribers. That = 15 million dollars!!!". Forgetting that most of that will be spent acquiring the equipment and connections to run it and hiring people to maintain it.
Harsh!??? I have a kid telling me that my chosen profession is "easy". How he made an MMO in 15 minutes.I think you're being too harsh on vrage, paradoxnj.
I never said not to try it. I said that the program was crap. VB6!?!? I mean...come on now.... Do you think WoW is made with VB6???? Hell no. It's very optimized C++ and Assembly code.I know how to program with C++, but I have no idea how it was created nor do I know how can I create my own programming language. Does that mean I can't say that I know how to wirte programs with C++? I'm not saying that "Total Eclipse" is good, but if vrage wants to start off with that program let him do it
To me...when he can write the server software is when he will be almost as cool as Chuck Norris.
