Good luck with Vista, the one I have needs it's RAM chips cleaned once a year otherwise it will just sit there and beep. The 1st version of vista wasn't too bad (my physics teacher has a copy of it at his house-or so goes the rumor), it was backwards compatible and not tempermental... why do you think they changed that?
Autopilot is something I developed from the boring humdrum of school (and the fact I had a horrible teacher for 3 years straight!) and the eventual lack of motivation and long hours of nothing to do but think. As it turns out, I set my goals too high (breakthrough!), and I see numbers in some sort of visual organizational pattern. Go figure!

The RAM chips being cleaned isn't a problem with Vista, it's a problem with the RAM chips. Usage of the RAM chip will generate enough heat to keep them clean by themselves. BF2142 runs like a dream on here, no lag whatsoever. There seem to be no more servers up though, so I'll probably get bad company for online play.

My computer that has vista on it was originally built for XP, but just had a vista sticker slapped on (it only has 1 GB of RAM! That could be the problem...)

Vista needs a minimum of 2gb memory to work at anything like normal. To work well it needs 3 or 4gb it is very memory greedy.

Yes, I have 4GB of ram in my desktop and before then I only had 2GB. Once I installed the extra 2GB of ram Vista uses 1.3-1.5GB of ram for start up(Vista Ultimatex64). Before it wouldn't exceed 950Megs. It seems it doesn't like to use more than half your RAM at any time. I have yet to see my RAM over 60% used. Vista has some strange oddities, but it isn't bad. I solved it by using Linux when I can. Dual booted my laptop and desktop with Ubuntu 8.04

Microsoft should do what apple did, go to great pain to make amazing graphics use almost no power.
On a side note, I love my new laptop that I used my own money and birthday money to buy. It's pretty much a semi gaming laptop, 4 Gb RAM, 2.1Ghz dual-core processor, ATi Radeon X3600 graphics with 512 mb dedicated video, altec lansing saound and to top it all of a 15.4" 1080P HD screen.
(Vista Home Premium)
