Hike,

Newer commands like the static mesh, ployarray etc... might not have been set up for VFS yet. The code changes are more then 1 year old.

My recommendation:
- put all files in VFS + encrypt it + place it so RF can read it
- put in DOS all files that are in
a) the install directory
b) the script directory
c) the video directory
d) the midi directory
e) the media/levels directory
In your case, also put all files for the static mesh in DOS
Now run RF and check which files RF still complains about + add them additionally to DOS

You will iterate a while, but this is a way to get the job done
After this tedious work, I welcome to know which files are not found by VFS, so I can try to solve also reading these files

Hike,

Can you send the complete RF.log file
It will help me a lot more to see in which module reading VFS fails, then with the sippets you posted
but the player's projectiles would only fire to the west or east. The
baddies' projectiles fired at the player, but they were all wide left by about 5 feet.
Can you explain which entities, script commands are involver with this projectile thing. The info I have now is far to limited to know where to lok for the bug.

The demo is a lot like the Asylum demo,

get it at http://terrymorgan.net/download.htm, you could also
try the default RF weapons contained in your physics demo.

same weapons,
same weapons, projectiles, fired by the baddies.

Mail me at hike1213@yahoo.com, I'll send you the whole 100MB thing by snail mail, I mainly don't want my actors to be stolen, the static meshes aren't all that great.

Would it be simpler to encrypt the rfvfs.exe, say it could only
be used with one .vfs file, so they'd need the rfvfs.exe that
assembled it? Anybody know how this stuff is encrypted on
other engines? The big commercial engines just attack you
with lawyers if you rob them, not an option for us.

Hike,

From the log file you send, I read that you have put all media, except the staticmesh in DOS. The idea was to do just to opposit
All media can be put inVFS (with some exceptions), but the static mesh, I advice to keep it in DOS, as this is a new feature maybe not supported yet by VFS

Sending 100MEG is OK in the weekend when I'm at home, but during the week I'm at low speed... and can not download such a size

Nout,

everything was in the vfs file, BUT IT WON'T READ THE VFS!
SO I put each ERROR OUT file in DOS!

I'll SEND YOU THE DEMO BY MAIL, send me your PHYSICAL
MAILING ADDRESS!

How do you add files in DOS to the vfs?

Hike,

Please keep a friendly tune. We are trying to help you.

Have a look again to the log file I've send out earlier
You will see several standard media which are read from VFS.
In your log file you use also some of these media, but you can not read them from VFS.
The code is exactly the same, the media are exactly the same, so I see only a few possible reasons left:
- Did you supply the password to RF by running the password.exe program, using exactly the same passwrod as done for VFS?

I will make a test on the asylum demo

ehmmm....what do you mean by DOS? Do you mean Disk-Operating-System(which DOS orgininally meant) or DOS as the previous of windows? Or something i do not know?

The password is only used when you try to extract files, if you
type in the wrong one, the files are unreadable, this shouldn't
affect the actual reading of the VFS file. I'll try a vfs file with NO
password and tell you what happens.

Nout means DOS as in 'it's not in the VFS file, it's out there in /media/bitmaps like in the standard RF download. (I guess)

Hike,

The password is also used to de-crypt the files while RF is reading them from an encryted VFS

Please check if you have set the password identical to the one used in VFS + can you post the resulting RF.log
It should show at least that the "standard media" is read from VFS

Hike,

You tried it? What is the result?
Can you post the RF.LOG?

This is using a vfs file without a password I think. I deleted
the /media directory, yes I know I need the .bsp's.

After this it will ask for every file in the menu.ini, etc..

Hike,

From the log, I recognize that you are not using the RF with physics executable
