Back on topic:
I really like the "wings" on the sides and concave underbelly of the ship. Is this going to be something that the player will drive, or will they be NPCs?

both. There'll be a time when the player can fly one, but it'll be damaged and incapable of anything more than hovering. And they may/may not be able to fly one in an air battle.
However, most will be controlled by AI troopers.

wel, it'll be able to shoot, but it'll overheat quickly, so you'll have to be wise with where you shoot, and only shoot important things

so it'll kinda be like the thing that you destroy stuff with that you wouldn't be able to destroy with normal weapons?

well, if it overheats, the engines shut down and you crash, plus taking hits will damage it more, it starts at 80% damage and if it hits 100% it'll crash and explode. So you have to do thi part and fly across the battle canyon from end to end without hitting the sides too much, as well as dodging shots and watching where you fire. At 80% damage, it's already smoking.

there'll be other rideable vehicles, but the vehicles aren't really a main part. The main part is shooting things, and killing the enemy.

Alright, no one can decide what the aliens should look like, or what they should be called.

BOXXXXX!!!!!!!!!!!! really. boxes are deadly weapons. they can be the evil boxes of planet w/e and they make you have writers block from making you sign all of their boxes.
