about the poly limits,SatrCraft 2 which is a strategy game, has about 1500 polys for one of its most basic units.Although rf aint as fast, i still think 2000 - 3000 polys is a good limit, and with rf2,perhaps evn up to 4500.of course if you use normal mapping, you can have some pretty sweet looking models.

ZANY!!!!!!! LONG TIME NO SEE!!! i got new forums, youll have to register again.
anyway if starcrafe 2 has 1500 polys units, the renderer will have to be fast. i never played starcraft but rts usually have hundreds of units onscreen. but you can use normalmapping (bumpmapping) to make it look high poly with a low poly count.

I'm so excited!

I got a free trade, I'm trading my old e machines E3405 Laptop, for a newer, but slightly used hp DV1000 notebook. it'll take about a week to transfer all my files, but I'll finally having a working disk drive, and a faster computer, and more battery life, and all kinds of good stuff! I'll have to go without some files and applications for this week, but RF will be my last transfer so I can use it as long as possible, but my new computer should be ready by next monday! I'm so excited.

yah,i had stuff on. I think they use normal mapping antway, but even so still have 1500. SC2 is supposed to have hundereds of units at a time(command hundreds of units in fight to bladebladebla) but SC1 not really, only on custom maps(of wich i have one)
BTW darkmaster, when youve finished your project,do you wanna team up with me and we will make Deathsquad together?Ill work on Ur'cha meanwhile.

Going wayyyy offtopic here but I don't think it matters. The whole thread seems to be just random chatting.
Anyway, if I remember correctly, SC1 can handle about 1500 units at a time. In the whole map, that is. This includes all the buildings and neutral critters as well as the actual units that you can move. I've built pretty large armies with the zerg in a normal melee map. The PSI limit (or whatever the thing is called that controls how many units you can create) is 200, but zerglings take only half a slot so it's basically possible for each player to have 400 zerglings at a time. With enough money and hatcheries that is possible in normal maps too.
I also love building the supply limit full of marines with the terran. Around 180 marines in one spot is a scary sight.
