well as some of you know and most of you probably dont, i am making a game called unknown identity and have came upon a problem.

last week i went and stoped at my girlfriends house, little did i know my brother came to visit. he came on the computer and had downloaded 4 torjans!!! this has caused me so much trouble, i couldnt get access to windows or anything so after borowing an old hard drive of my freind i went about installing windows on it and formating my hard drives, with over 100GB of data stored on it, so i went about making backups of everything with DVD's 20 of them to be exact and thought that after formating my hard drive to just put them back on, little did i know that now about 25% of them didnt write correctly and having some files coming up with an error and wont coppy over. i am only 5 dvd's through and have took a break to visit the forums, first time this week! and so this may mean i dont have any of my game...

but some good news, as some of you may also know im making the sword from final fantasy 7 ac well i still have this, this was saved on my mp3 player so i could continue it at my girl friends house that weekend and will have pictures up of it in the next week in the modeling section of this forum.

My brothers would totally do that, and then claim that it was somehow MY fault the THEY dl'd the viruses.

Why there's no such propertie as sometimes? Because sometimes I hate my brother because he makes me mad and sometimes we get along just fine  Now we are creating a 2D game "Brothers: Kill & Shoot".It's something like GTA 2 just with much bigger map and capability to be played by two players 8) So when we are creating it we get along just fine :)

Well, that reminds me to back up everything I have. My home comp has no internet access, but I'm sure a very clever person could figure out my password. And speaking of girls, all the girls in Duluth, Minnesota (the ones I run into anyway) are ugly, boring, and don't want to talk to me.

Please, never move here. For your sake and mine.

Heck, I live in exciting Barberton, Ohio, and I wouldn't ever consider moving to Duluth, MN. No fear there, brother.

I have trouble burning data DVD's also, the khypermedia ones fail often, brand names do better. I just do CD's now if the data is small enough. A usb drive will save you again and again, just burn it to CD occasionally.

yea i had a pen drive, 512mb and the only solution was dvd's this was because i have downloaded so much over the last year or two, and i dont bother backing them up because i am very carful at what i download, if it looks remotely suspicious and is from a trusted site i dont bother, for that reason i dont have virus scaner or firewall, because i have a dynamic ip address so it always changes so not to much of a problem for a firewall and i dont have spy ware either and virus scanner just takes up too much of my cpu power when could be used more eficiantly on other things.

but i am VERRY lucky this time and all my game work has been saved apart from the act versions of models, but thats no problem as i still have the ms3d version of the file :D

but more bad news that has annoyed me so much, the day i repaird my comupter to working order my brother had downloaded another virus, this was in the form of an exe file within a zip file.

thank god that he never ran the exe file and so i deleted the file so he cant run it.

but im thinking about passwording my internet or pc so he cant do it again.

Yeah I keep my machines locked down. Then I always get roommates griping at me who try to use them and can't or they say "Whats your password I need to check my e-mail" and I won't give it up.

It's bad enough letting someone on your computer. It's a tragedy if it has an internet connection.

Which is why I lock my computer down. If they can't get to the keyboard, or turn on the power they can forget guessing a password.
