I donwloaded RF and the 0.75 update and installed it. When I opened it, a black screen flashed and RF shutdowned inmediately. I changed the Reality Factory.ini to make resolution to 1024x768, window the program, render by software and use OpenGL. I also changed the d3d24.ini by moving the value of bpp to 16 and the zbuffer to 2.
When I started RF, the Genesis 3D logo showed out and was too slow, also the RF logo and the demo too. I´ve got a Pentium 3 800 hz Cpu,
with 192 RAM, a 32 RAM video card and I don´t understand why it is too slow.

I do not think it's a good idea to set the zbufferd to 2, because that would mean it uses only 2bits for the zbuffer....
here is my d3d24.ini:
Code: Select all
[d3d24]
Bpp = 16
ZBufferD = 16
BBufferCount = 1
CompressTextures = 0
FSAntiAliasing = 0
ExtraTextures = 0
NoVsync = 1
Async = 0
DoNotWait = 1
I also use the dircetx driver because it has better features.
Also, welcome to the forums and to REalityFactory!

Yes, use the directx driver. The opengl has not been kept up. You'll see better results. Let us know how it goes and Welcome to Reality Factory!!

not to put you off or anything but this is probally the bare minimum need for RF, i would usually recommend at least
1.0 - 1.5 processor
256MB Ram
64MB vidcard
anything less than that should run RF but it will be a bit of a struggle, it still is do-able though when i first joined on i had a 400mhz machine with 128MB ram and 8bit vid card

Oh my. In my haste I think I read that as 3.8 and naturally thought ghz. I'd say Spyrewolf is right. That is right on the edge. Things will be quite slow.
