I can't convert my models.

Could someone convert these models to .act files please? I haven't got the software to do it. I'm mainly just after the Sci Fi Prefabs, but I think they could all be put on the RF resources on File Front for others to use. If not, could someone just get the Sci Fi prfabs for me please? I'd really appreciate it.

Doh! Forgot to put the site link! Sorry, here.

You just click on FREE STUFF on the left and then 3d models.

Thanks Steve.

Woah. You want all those converted into actors?

27 models. That would take some time. I can try to do a few each week, of the sci fi. Would that be okay?

We don't need to put these on filefront. The link to psionic3d is just fine.

Yeah, the sci fi would be great thanks, if you don't mind.

I don't really need them all converted, I'd mostly like the computers.

Once again ,thanks for your help.

Oh wow. Duh! I just now get what you meant about uploading them to the filefront account. You meant once they are converted to actors. man, can I be thick sometimes. :?

Yeah, that's what I meant. Don't worry, I don't think you're thick though.

Thanks for the computers.

Hey, I got the computers, but I can only get textures on them. DO you know how I could actually make them look like the computers shown on the website please?

miccy, what are you trying to do with the computers? The actors I made ARE the computers from that little picture on the website. All you need to do with them is put those actor files into the actors folder, place a static entity proxy into your level, and tell it to use comp01.act, etc. Your textured computer will be in your level.

The origin of each actor is dead center in in the middle at the bottom of each actor, so place your static mesh entity on the floor where you'd want the center of the computer to be.

It's that easy.

Oh. . .go into your tools folder and start the actor viewer. You can use that to see just what the actors look like before using them. That's how I checked to make sure they were okay.

Whoa! Just figured out my problem. I didn't run the preview level, I just viewed it in the Editor! In the editor it looks like a piece of crap, but in the preview it looks great!

Wish I thought of that before. It would have saved me a lot of trouble. Thanks for the help Steve.

What is the level about?

I'm using them for a demo level, based off that zombie game that I showed you on that site (don't know if you played any of it, but in part 3 there is one of those weird lab levels). Just like every computer game involving mad scientists and stuff, I want to have random computers scattered about.

Thanks for your time.

By the way, when I try to move them to the perfect position, they keep moving when I don't want them to. What should I do to stop them doing that?
