A golem

A few days ago i played around with virgil and suddenly i had the idea to make a golem out of it.
So i deleted the head and played around with the vertices until it fitted. I also made a highpoly golem viaSmoth Edges for the normal map but i just don't understand nvidia's melody...

However here is how it looks, left is the golem in ActView and right the high poly model.


(I noticed some of virgils animations didn't fit a golem. However the Slash1 and the Punch animations looked nice on it)

What do you think?

Do you read Terry Pratchet? That golems pretty good mabey, if you read terry pratchet's disc world novels (thats where I think you got the Idea for the golem from), mabey you could make a game out of one of his books? I always thought that would be cool, not too many book to games eh?

No i didn't read it. Actually i played Gothic (I), which is one of the best RPGs i think. But thanks for the tip with the books. Maybe i'm gonna read them. As i think of it, i wasn't at the library for a long time... :lol: (ok it's summer but with that weather we have here i could read a book maybe)

Yeah well you know what they say a good book never killed any one, except for that one time... :roll: LOL. Yeah Terry Pratchet books are good but make sure you get one from the discworld collection, there are like 200 discworld novels most of whitch I think had good game possibilitys, mabey some one could make episodic games each episode, briefly covering a book?

Well, I haven't seen too many golems before so I can't give much feedback on it... :wink:

However, you should definitly get one of Terry Pratchett's books, they are really worth reading. There are also at least 2 discworld pc games based on the novels... :)

REALY :shock: wow thats awsome do you know who the developer is? and how long ago were they released? I didnt see any adverts or reviews in PCGAMER on them for like the past two years! Are the games any good?

There are in fact 4 games, but they are rather old. I've only played Discworld 2 and it was quite good but as a fan of the novels I was a little bit disappointed...

Not bad looking.

What type of golem is it, I can't tell from the small pic.
My experience from D+D games have stone golems, flesh golems etc

I havn't read any of Terry Pratchett's books but they sound interesting, time to check them out.

Anyways, nice work on the golem

When I think golems i think Large thing with really big hands. Golems are almost alway really grabby and smashy (excuse my descipts :P) so I think whenever I see them they are very hand focused. Usually big like you have tem build with a face built into their uppper body rather into their face.

I like what you got so far ... maybe some more hand detail though ^_^.

I think it's looking good. I look forward to seeing it with a head.

A golem is a mythical creature made from just about anything I believe, and brought to life for a purpose. Like a lump of clay or such, to protect a village or so forth.

All kinds of golems. The one in my thread just popped into my head when my son said he wanted a golem for our dungeon game.
