best job EVER!!!!!!

Post by scott »

well as you can see i am back from my girlfriends and while i have been away for the last few days a major development has occured, i am now fully employed by RARE ltd, creators of such games as donky kong and perfect dark as a game tester, i will be testing games from next monday for bugs and getting paid while playing them :D, this is almost a dream come true.

this will mean i will have access to pre-release games, i am not sure to which games i will be testing but the guy in the interview asked me if i was given a copy of halo 3 how would i test it, so mabe he has this game in mind, i wont know till monday but this is still a greate opertunity :D

OMFG YOU LUCKY SOB!!! Good for you man! :D How did you come about this job?

Dont you have to do write ups on each level (how it feels etc...) also I heard when you find a bug you have to write up a detailed analisis on it (where it is how it happend what it was etc...) Although Im sure the ''work'' far out ways the ''paper work!!!!''

Wow your really lucky! (I dont actually believe in luck I simply believe that luck is when preporation meets opportunity) And you found the opportunity alright! PS how permenent is the possistion?

well, details are sketchy, the job advertisment asked for people who play games alot and have a good knowledge, there has been no mention of paper work but it is to be expected but time will tell, how permanant, well as permanant as a permanant marker, until i get fired (burn the paper the marker was used on) or until i get tierd and run out of juice for the job(no more ink in the pen) so its pretty permanant. the ONLY downside to the job is the hours, they are very odd indeed, i get a time table a week in advanced and can be working until midnight sometimes, others till mid day, i dont understand why, its a question i need to ask.

also i get discounts on all microsoft products due to the company being ownd or is partners with microsoft.

Well done!!!!! I hope I can get a job like that some day!

So, that job is completely permenant? I have seen game companies posting job ads for testers that are only contracted for 6 months and are not guarenteed anything after the contract runs out. Sounds like you have gotten one great deal then from what you said!

Congratulations!!!!!

yea it seems permanant, i havnt been told otherwise, boot i was silly and a complete NOOBE at interviews as it was my first one ever and never asked too many questions, but at job seekers plus, a company that helps people find work in the uk and europe i belive, it said that the position was permanant.

yep they do make good games, i realy cant say that about the current game, aimed at children so its a bit pethetic, but it isnt as good as you all think it is, the hours are killing me, weekends 9am - 5pm mon - fri 9am - 10pm and i amd not used to this at all being unemployed for 3 months has ment i have became lazy.

Hmm. Why does game testing require seven days a week. That stinks. And the hours are terrible! Are they trying to see if you wear out before the game does?

It is much like finding out someone works at the Hostess bakery where they make Twinkies. Everyone is like "Oh, yummy!! That must be great!" But the person who spends all day cranking out these things would rather puke than look at a Twinkie.

I get it, scott. Do you at least get some kind of break on the purchase of games, or better yet, get to keep a game if you want it?

nope the game is supposed to be ready by next week and at the current rate of over time it will take the best part of a month and probably alot more.
