i have selected a surface and have selected the texture neede for that surface, a black and grey tiled affect, it is 512 x 512 in size, scaled down to 0.25, it the rendering window it showed the texture as a multicolour texture, like when you have changed the library and the old texture dosnt exist, but when i compiled it, it showd as the proper texture and looked good, i then added more textures to my library and then it changed to a one of my new textures, but this time showing correctly in the rendering window, but not when i view it with the engine, so i tryed selecting the old texture again making sure it had the right one atached to it, and still nothing changed and now i cant get my old texture back, now when i compile it it has an error syaying

--- Save Portal File ---
--- Create Area Leafs ---
Could not find texture 'black and gray ' in texture library.
Could not find texture alpha'black and gray ' in texture library.
Could not find texture alpha'black and gray ' in texture library.
Could not find texture alpha'black and gray ' in texture library.
Could not find texture 'black and gray ' in texture library.
--- Save GBSP File ---

now the texture is there and i havnt renamed it or changed it in any way but it just wont show, i also found this in the downloadable manual and it said:
"Q. I changed the texture of a brush in the editor, but in the game the texture is the old one, why?

A. You probably have 1 or more brushes occupying the same space. This can happen when copy/paste spazzes out, and you click too many times. This also happened to me using Game Builder for Max 3, I kept clicking on 'Make Floor' but it didn't display until the 4th click, and I had 5 floors. In World Editor save your map to different numbers in sequence, like maze1, then delete the brush, maze 2, delete the brush again, until you delete all the brushes, then exit, say 'no' to save changes? then reload the last version that had only 1 brush occupying that space. I don't know what the effect of multiple brushes in the same space has on FPS, etc."

now i havent made another brush over the top, it just wont change back.

I htink this happens when 2 textures have almost the same name. Like "amun_floor_tiling_black1000" and "amun_floor_tiling_black1001".

Could that be the case?

lol me 2, i had a picture of the net in 32bit, and i used paint shop pro 8 to resize it and save as .bmp, to make it work in RF, it aparntly never took it down to 24bit and kept it at 32bit and saved as a .bmp when i loaded it again it gave me the option to downgrade to 24bit, this isnt norrmal becos i have never had a 32bit pic before and i have never had the option to downgrade to a 24bit, very strange.........

ermmmmmm....... i am so sorry, it was 24bit, it seems that paint shop pro 8 decided it was going to play me up and be a pain. but this still dosnt explain why it played up then..... it is still playing up, it still shows as if there is no texture on there in the render window but still loads the correct texture when previewing my level with the engine, it seems to load it if it is the last thing that was put into the texture library, so i can get it to work but it means deleting it and saving it and then put it into the library again.
can any one help me.

'black and gray '
your texture name shouldn't have any blanks in it, this could cause some problems
