I know you can use Milkshape 3d I don't really know if it's any good. I use 3dmax+Charector studio and it Depends on what modeling you'r using.

first of all thx for the reply...but my wallet is telling me the stuff u r using is never gonna be found in my possesion...and milkshape isn't for free either...thats why i was thinking about gmax or do u have a better idea to animate my models with.
I already tried gmax to animate its pretty simple and it worked but i couldn't export to the nfo file and i dunno why(i did everything thats writtin in all the tuts here in the forum and the other resources) but i cant get it to export the model. maybe someone has a little tip for me. I think a already published one of my early models bc i couldn't get it to work so that maybe someone could rig it and show me how to do it right that way....but nobody did.

1. do you have charector studio
2. i'm not sure about gmax but in 3dmax you need to use a phisiqe modifier.
3. If you post you'r model for download here in a format that 3dmax can open i'l try to rig it and post it back.
4. Textures also need to be power by 2 "2,4,8,16,32,64,128 etc.. if your not using these Sizes you won't be able to export it.

a new version of 3ds max will cost about 3 to 4 G's

but GMAX is perfect you just have to use "BONES" to rig and animate your character.

you can pickup a rigging tutioral almost anywhere.

yeah i know and i can rig and animate in gmax but it wont let me export my work into the nfo file thats the reason i'm now trying to use milkshape as the animation tool.

there are seperate nfo and key exporters for gmax, the key exporter is what exports animation - both are included in the gmax exporter zip.
