This is the project I'm currently making with my class mate. It's only 0.000000000000000001 version of ground floor(alot of object missing etc.) anyway, you can download it here

The walls are all white and it crashes to menu when I climb the stairs.

It doesn't crash. There's a changelevel entity with no target level so it goes to the main menu.

Are the walls supposed to be all white? That's kinda disturbing... :)

But hey, it's a nice start for a school. Good luck to you and your friend on this one. :D

About the white walls - my shcool's walls are white, and I don't know what texture should I put there so it wouldn't disturb. Any suggestions?

I'm sure the walls in your school aren't THAT white. :D
You could make them a bit darker and give them a texture (not just plain white). If they are that bright, it's hard to see the shape of objects.
That's a crash in my book.
Well, it depends. In my opinion, if it is meant to be that way, then it's not. But if the next level is undefined by mistake, then I would call it a crash.... maybe. :D
Anyway, leaving the field for next level empty is the only way I know to 'end' the game. If you finished a game and it went to the main menu after killing the final big bad boss, would that be a crash too? :P

BTW, I couldn't download the texture pack from openfrag.com. :?
Could they have deleted the file? If so, that sucks. The textures I saw there were awesome.

Actually, in my scool walls are all white, but I hope that you have noticed that graphics in RF is much worse then in real life so I just can't make walls look realistic

The player could just wander around for a while until he gets bored and hit 'esc'. That would end it, too. Meanwhile, check

There's a game engine on page 2 or 3, pretty decent, you
need openal sound library.

No wall is White.

Get a camera take a pic of one wall in daylight one in the shade and one lit by the schools light. you will find that the same wall will have 3 diff shades.

you can then put them in a paint program turn then in to a gif or other type of file and add them to you world.

great job i like it, i know its early but an idea for you to think of is making the odd table with a different texture, like a table where the one who dosnt want to be there with scrached writing in, its thats sort of stuff that makes it more realistic, another thing to mention is i hate the change level entities for the simple reason on my desktop computer it takes for ever to load levels, its getting a bit old now but has a 2.6Ghz cpu try and use hint brushes where u can to improve the frame rate, they are alot better than level change entities for user interaction as no time for loading just means that it doesnt render half the stuff.

also putting doors in the rooms using hint brushes, making the doors close when another opens or when you get so far from it, this is done in a recent game made by square enix, the new ff7, my tip would be to play different types of games and see the abilities they use in them as RF can do most of them aswel, another example grand theft auto heavely relies on lod models, if you moving too quick that you can notice the details it lowers it as there is no point. but apart from that i like it.

i am getting truble getting it going tho, my pc wouldnt load it and at first my laptop wouldnt load it til i changed a few settings in the video setup. but i think thats my computer being stupid so dont wory about it too much.

Looks nice! Is that your school? You might want to make that white bit seethrough i think that the big white box looks a bit cheap...

i agree, make the box a bit transparent and lighten the entire image up abit, it looks a bit dull but apart from that it looks cool.
