I think RFeditpro secretly hates and wishes harm upon me!

Post by fps »

My RFeditpro tool sits quietly in the tools folder of my latest RF project installation as I desperately try to do as much work as I can on my game without finishing levels... this is because I am certain that whenever I use it there is a piece of code (or demon) inside its program that is trying to will me to my own demise. It seems to use methods of confusion and inoperability to induce a prolonged state of rage filled frustration in which I find it quite hard to both accomplish satisfying work and stop swearing. It is obvious that the program is taking advantage of my computers retardation to try to push me over the edge where in which I have hypothesized that my brain will either liquefy itself in a miniature neurokenetic electrical storm or my soul will simply implode. :D

..... I am sorry... I may have exaggerated a little there.

My real problem is that the RFeditpro program has a tendency to simply crash or close out whenever I try to do anything involving the following things:

Use my photorealistic texture pack (sometimes only on compiles and changing textures)

Use complicated ai (the fedeai editing project)

Make large or complicated levels (my whole game)

Adding terrain (I guess I just don’t know the correct way how yet)

Work on a level for an extended period of time (if you call 20 minutes extended)

Do anything with physics (all I want to use is the ragdoll, box, and vehicle stuff)

Make my levels so they don’t look like blocky C*** (for Christ sake I’ve seen you guys do it!)

Try to make the levels magically appear with my mind (my point is, this stuff shouldn’t be impossible right!)

Is there somebody here who knows either why RFeditpro is noncompliant with my style of level creation or how to fix the problems (its evil) I am having with the program.
If not then could somebody tell me how you guys can articulate beautifully detailed and functional levels? I’m not asking for you guy to drop whatever your doing and teach me (the nobody who asks too many questions) everything you know, I just want to know what I can do to avoid wasting hours on building levels that both suck and don’t work.(if that’s possible)

What methods do you guys use, something that I missed about knowing how to use the program? What other programs do you guy use in conjunction to RFeditpro to build your levels?

I don’t even want to make next gen style amazing beautiful levels, they just have to look semi decent and work. Just something that would make the process a bit easier.

My games a shooter where many areas of the environments are going to be either in the dark or being actively shot apart by yours and enemy fire. So immaculate detail is not first priority to me. I just need to be able to finish this project sometime this year and getting the levels out of the way is my biggest obstruction between were I am now and completion.

I anyone has any ideas or input that could help me (or any idea what I just wrote for that matter) please respond as completely as you can.
I know that there has got to be someone out there who knows what I am talking about and has some sort of miracle solution that I never would have thought of, and if you think that’s you then please feel free.

Until then I am locking my computer in the basement and sleeping with a stack of led bricks next to my bed. (Don’t ask where I got them... I don’t even know why I have them in the first place)

Thanks,
FPS

I guess I'm lucky. RFedit Pro crashed on
startup twice, never ran it again.

Have you tried World Editor? Or even RF edit
It's on the
downloads page of realityfactory.info

Well just one thing i think i saw in your list of problems, make sure that your textures are all square and multiples of 8 like 256x256...

and and and like i know man! The RF creators performed some kind of unholy ritual when they made RFeditpro... Ill never forget taht day about two years ago... (memory ripples) It was late and i had been desighning my school in RFeditpro for about 6 hours, and it was finally looking good. It crashed and I hadnt saved even ounce! I screamed so loud my dad rushed into my room thinking i was dying LOL I was so mad that i destroyed my number pad with a slameed fist... now i dont have a number pad, BUT i have a hand always hovering over 'cntrl + s' and i quick save every three seconds! I love RFeditpro now, you just have to beat the demon youll get there... :)
