3DS Max 8 .act exporter?

Heya.
I've seen .act exporters for 3ds max 4...and lower
Question is, do they work with 3ds max 8, and if not, is there a more recent exporter around?
Also, another question is, is it possible that if I create a terrain in 3ds max and export it as an .act file instead a .map file, that I get un forseen problems when importing in RFEd pro?
