RFEditPro Error Message

i made a scene (a box made with individual solid poly walls as described in the rf tutorial on map making for beginners) with maya. i then exported it as an .OBJ. i opened it in milkshape and everything was fine (textured properly and all the rest) so i exported it from milkshape in the .3DT format. so i tried to open it in rfeditpro.

at this point i got 2 options:
set a txl file, did that no problem

then i got to another message about headers. if i click [ok] it will set the directory to c:\reality factory\tools

or if i click [cancel] it will leave it as ..source

so i click [ok] and i get a message saying

error 'expected brushfaces' in file <filepath> at offset 0x000000D8

but if i click cancel to leave the directory as ..source, the program crashes.

there is probably a simple explaination to it, but i can't figure out what that is so if anyone knows what i am doing wrong i would appreciate some help

cheers

error 'expected brushfaces' in file <filepath> at offset 0x000000D8
this means that your level file is corrupt, there is a chance to correct this error manually
open the 3dt file in a text editor, go to specified offset and see what's wrong there (you may use a valid level as reference)

however I recommend using RF's evel editor to build your levels

i tried to fix that problem with my level but kinda doesn't really work...my level file that i exportet from milkshape its kinda hopeless everything looks the same lol...but rfeditpro isnt that easy to use than everyother3d editor. but yeah when nobody is able to fix this convertting problem we dont have a change.

Or Valve Hammer editor, export to .map
Or Gmax with game level builder http://www.maple3d.com

RF FAQ http://terrymorgan.net/rffaq.zip
Demos at http://terrymorgan.net/download.htm

The milkshape 3dt converter doesn't work.

that's illegal. i would reccomend using quark instead.

why is using the hammer illegal?
and by the way hike1 the gamebuilder plugin costs 30$ thats way to much for a plugin and i would have to create my level again anyways.

If you've not tried GLB2.22 then please get it, as it is free and will give you a good idea of what GLB3 is like.

Because you're only supposed to make half-life maps with it, but
the .map file is a .txt file, so there's no way to prove what you
used to make your map, you could make one in notepad. The
Gmax/GameBuilder is free and comparable to using Hammer, Quark is an awful editor, almost nobody uses it compared to Hammer.

its all opinion really, you either seem to love quark or hate it, there dont seem to be people who sort of like it for some reason...
