im having trubble converting my models to .act. im using blender to model, and truegene to convert, and truegene always comes up with error messages
can anyone help?
Also, even if it works(which is rare),when i open a model in rf, then nothing appears.
And,how do i put the .act model into rf,cos when i press open,.act is not a file type, only .map, .3dt,and.leak.
And i believe this post should be in modelers corner, not here.Could someone move it please?
(unless it belongs here)
Thanks in advance

How you open model in rf? actviewer ? if so , it could be just higher than your cam can see...
The best modeling program is milkshape , it can export to .act
(well , i think so )
milkshape
Milkshape isn't free

MilkShape can't export directly to .act. It can export to .bdy and .mot and they can then be compiled into an .act file with AStudio.
Sorry but I can't answer the actual question about Blender to .act conversion.
You can add the .act files to a level with StaticEntityProxy, StaticMesh and Pawn entities. In StaticEntityProxy and StaticMesh entity attributes there should be a direct field which actor to use. It's called 'szActorFile'. For Pawns you need to define a pawn type in pawn.ini first and then use that in field 'PawnType' in the Pawn entity attributes.

Blender to .act conversion.
Only non-animated models from Blender, and then you'd need to import .obj or whatever into Milkshape. animated models
need 3ds max or Milkshape.

So r u saying that you cant animate in blender and use it in rf? what about anim8or or gmax 4 animations then? And im just using truegene to convert .cob(which is truespaces format)to .act. i just had a look at actorstudio, and i might use that instead, converting max to .act.

I'm not sure about Blender or Gmax 4 animations, but at least you can animate in Gmax 1.2. I just downloaded it and played around a bit and I got a textured and animated model to RF with 100% free programs. All it takes is Gmax and a nfo/key export script. I will probably also test TrueSpace and TrueGene one day and try to get them to work with RF.

gMax works perfectly, yes.
If someone would write a blender exporter we would certainly be grateful.

animated models
need 3ds max or Milkshape.
Oh, and Gmax..it's in the FAQ. I tried the tutorial that came
with GMAX and got a 2-bone cube actor, I think.
at actorstudio, and i might use that instead, converting max to .act.
That requires full 3ds Max 3.1 through 8, (only tried 3.1 though).

gmax would be the choice in this case, because of it's ui similarities to blender( i.e. the difficulty in understanding them, heh).
a blender to .bdy exporter? Please no.then we'll be inundated with blidiots.
