Im really confused!

Post by Ryan »

Hello again.

Im super embarassed that I cant figure this program out, but I cant.
I am sticking with this program for sure cause I have seen what it is capable of doing, but its a bit discourageing. I have read the chapters in the ebook about level design, and the manual some, but im still confused. I would like to learn how to simply make a small hallway, with a few rooms and thats it. Just somthing easy to get me started, so I can see some progress. Any simple tuts I hav'nt found yet?
Thanks for all your help so far with my nooby questions. Im half tempted to start a new thread entitles, "Ryans Problem" just for me to post my problems to, so I dont have to start a new thread every time I need somthing. :P

Wow, thanks, that does help. one other qestion, how do I get textures into my textures database? do they need to go to a specific folder. Note: I am not using the RF edit pro that originaly comes with the download of RF, I am using the program that the author of the tutorials is using.

not too sure, reality factory is genesis with improvments/updates

i think it may be the same, in the install folder there might be a folder named tools (it is with rf that is) in there, theres a programe called rfpack, mabe called something different, its a folder with a t on for the logo, open this, to create a new texture library just start draging textures into the list area to the left, then click file and save and you should be good to go

when putting in textures they need to be a specific type, the format i belive is .bmp but the main thing people have problem is, is the size, they need to be factors of 2, starting from 8, so for example 8x8 16x16 32x32 64x64

most people try to use 64, to 512 but the bigger the picture the more memory it wil use.
sizes are in pixles.

if you cant find the texture packer i would downoad rfedit pro, and use the texture packer, copy and paste the exported texture file, .txl, to the file system your using. (would be media, levels in the rf file system)

hope that helps
