well i am in need of some opinions and sugestions on improvments and advice on how to do those improvments.
i have been working on a human model, i have the basic shape and am now working in the detail, i am on the eyes at the moment and unsure on the best way to model them, i have a texture (colour is slightly off) for the eye and skin with shadows pre casted, to give them volume i have brought them back into the skull a little and on the left i have added a few polys to create an eyelid and a bulge out on the right i have just a texture and thinking of animating it for blinking.
wich one do you like more (the eyebrow has a big shadow) left or right (so your right and not the models)
also any advice & suggestions are welcome.

I like the eye with the added polygons. It adds a good amount of depth. However, if your project will not enable players to see that up close, then the right would be fine.

I prefer the one without the extra polys. You could have the same effect with a texture. So unless you really want your character to blink I would suggest the right one.
BTW, I think the eyes look pretty unnatural. They are way too round.

yea i am working on the shape, its getting the texture to look correct (not disformed) and bringing the eye lids closer, also if you look the mesh isnt that good either, it dips in at part of the eye wich you can see from the side views, the mesh and shape is the thing im working on now.
yea the player will be able to walk up to the person and see the eye.
the eye texture is seperate from the skin, the skin is tiled something like 10x so i would have to correct it in the eye texture, also the shape of they eye is going to have to be corected in the texture as the shadow that is already on the eye deforms, i will have a go at adding a darker shadow instead of the polygons and see how that goes.

Well, The left looks more natural and if the player is going to see it, it would make a pretty substantial difference how the player sees it. If you can create the same look with a texture (tough) then do right, but otherwise, just do left.

yeah i dunno, I actualy prefer the right, I think you could just do it with a texture and that might look ever better.

thanks guys, been experimenting with light and dark spots for textures, just a quick question, what do you think of the skin texture so far? texturing is all new to me, recently got a book to help me and has done an exelent job, just would like your opinions on the texture seen, i am hoping to have a bump map with it aswel.

needs some eyelids. the one thing you forgot. eyelids cover part of the eye.

I like the texturing so far, but I think that the skin is a bit pink... I would try taking down the hue saturation a bit, and mabey darkening it a tad, that might render some more realistic results.

I agree that the left looks better.
I also agree that you could the same effect with a texture, unless your really hooked on the idea of having the eye blink.

thanks guys, yea the eye will blink, the player will be right up next to them alot of the times and to add a short animation every few seconds it would just make the game look that little bit more real, i had alot of difficulties with the human face and wasnt getting the result i was after so i have started a new head, i have only a quater done but its looking alot better i belive.
