I love FF series, i looked forward to the spirits within, although i love that film, it really wasn't FF....

now advent children.... that is cool, they've taken the most popular FF and made it a movie, set 2 years after FF7, cool idea, i hope it really is good, and square can get back to making more movies, FF based ones anyway,

i also hope they put in familiar monsters/summons/spells ect,
but im gonna definetly get it once i get my; PSP

Can the umd discs be used in dvd players? Itd be a good idea if they could so this way you dont have to buy two copies one for the psp and another for tv use.

I liked the spirits within except for the plot. Just kidding i liked most of the story just not the whole spirit part and the ghosts of an alien planet seems like that episode of red vs blue 4-something 5 maybe. By the way the episode came out.

whered you find the trailer?

squar is always producing high quality gracphics, the cut scene from ff7 was the best graphics there was for the ps1, and they havnt dissapointed me with the film, i thougt it was going to be good, but that was way better tha i thought it was going to be so to be honest im glad they spent so long on it.

umd's

Post by gekido »

UMD's are a very limited format. It's another standard Sony trick - try to push proprietary formats that only work in Sony devices (in this case the PSP) onto the customer.

So if you bother buying a UMD movie it will ONLY work in the PSP (as far as I'm aware of). Somehow this hasn't stopped Sony from selling millions of them (apparently). Read a report that they've sold as many UMD movies as they have games for the PSP.

I don't understand that at all. So i'm going to buy a movie on DVD, no wait then i have to buy it on UMD, no wait then i have to buy it online & rent it per-view...

Of course, whatever makes the movie / media companies the most money is the route that they will take, until consumers wake up and realize that they are being scammed into buying the same crap over and over again, just on different formats.

I have written more of a rant on this subject here:

streaming video

Post by gekido »

nothing more annoying than a site with a super small mini-video window that won't let you download the actual trailer for viewing full screen in a real video player.

even with broadband, streaming video just doesn't work 9/10ths of the time...so frustrating.

Particularly sites like this that put their video in flash wrappers...

ugh.

Anyone have a link to a site with downloadable versions of these trailers?

I saw the original one way back, can't wait to see the newer ones...

^^ Another Advent children trailer on game spot...

the big thing here is portability, i mean sure you can carry a laptop round/mini dvd player, but try sticking those babies in your pocket...

PSP's are brilliant! Massive and his brother just picked one up, i can't see why everyone seem to be against them,

they're in my opinion the best hand held device around, compare them to a DS it's a toy in comparrison to the PSP. the graphics are relativley close to that of a PS2!!!

the screens are super crystal clear/ sound quality is equaled to a PS2 (although the speakers are little iffy) when outputted the sound is great and there is hardly any ghosting when you compare the size quality and resolution of that of other hand helds in the market, PSP is on top. the additional ability to update featues, such as surf the net, and soon [rumoured] video chatting and text/instant messaging services...

the other big feature is gameshare functionality, gone are the days of needing two copies of one game to play multiplayer, also some games support up to 16 - players......wireless too

one thing i thing sony is suffering from is "tall poppy syndrome" as microsoft has in the PC arena, whenever your a big dog, the people hate you...

sure UMD's are property of sony, and as it stands only PSP's run Umd's but if the format survives im almost positive you'll see UMD player's popping up in home entertainment systems / and computers

it's only early days yet....

my two cents and speculation is that umd's have video not high quality enough for large screens... the psp is very small compared to todays monitors and tv's, and im guessing they couldnt fit as much data as a dvd on a disc that size, unless they already put blueray out in time for the psp(i dont believe they did).

sorry to go offtopic
