i hear quest of dreams is working on an update to direct x9 for reality factory.
does this mean the renderer will be direct x9 from what it is now direct x7
if so does this mean more polygons for characters and levels which would put the engine right up there with more expensive engines if so i wounder how much progresss quest of dreams has done
any infomation on this would be great
thanks firelord

well being the 12th november today, makes it 48 days till the new year, not expecting to be dead on your word for the first of jaonuary however i am intereasted in how this is coming along, and is it still planned for the new year? or can we have an even bigger treat and expect it before hand, or is it going to be an oober cool feature and have it a bit late?

I'd like to know too when it's finished, but i also have a question:

Will the update be an updated genesis.dll with an updated d3d9drv.dll or will it also have changes on the RF source code itself?

It will probably last longer than december 31st because I'm going for cgfx effects now (since it's a complete rewrite of the driver anyways).
I try to keep the interface changes in the Genesis3D engine to a minimum though, so the RF code should not change that much (at least in the first release with the new driver). There will also be a totally new level editor to take advantage of the new possibilities and it takes some time to complete it as well.

well this is sonding more and more promising, i tried RF again the other day after a very long time (too long if im honest) and well it was a little slow, i dont normaly complain however i forgot how slow and have been used to milkshapes speeds, im at the stage that i am ready to compile i small tech demo for my dev team to show the progress, state and what i wish to make my game into in the future, the way RF was going was a little slow, however could easily change it by giving each object a bounding box, however that isnt all thats needed, and for me to get a demo going is sort of counter productive with the current speeds of the editor aswel as the engine, however i have faith, and knowing the update was coming i was planing on preparing everything for it, however if i need to prepare for it i need to know the limits, so what exactly will the new features involve? im guessing that most stuff will be the same it will just use advanced features graphics cards support, but the editer improvments are exiting me so spill the beans :P
