Reality Factory + Virus = yes?

Post by Zentu »

While installing Reality Factory my Anti-Virus (Avira Antivir) detected a Virus.
[HEUR/Exploit.HTML] in file "Reality Factory\tools\is-NFPOB.tmp". I have used
Reality Factory on other computers with no problems. Why does the
download have a Virus on it now?

I hope its a false positive so I can start using RF on my new computer.

Well, I have no idea actually. I've had a similair problem once before, although not with Reality Factory. In my case, the download went wrong and the file got corrupted.

My suggestion is to re-download RF and try again.

Could be your virus scanner giving a false positive. It does happen with some porgs although I've never known it happen with RF. You can be rest assured there is definately no virus in RF

There is no virus/dialer/trojan/etc. in RF.
In this case Antivir is giving a false positive as bernie suspected. The file Antivir is complaining about is a temporary file created by the Inno Setup program (the installation program RF075A is packed with). I thought Avira had solved this problem months ago but apparently they re-introduced this problem in a later version. You may ask about it on the Antivir support forum if you want this statement confirmed.
