Haha zapper games still rock!

Post by ZenBudha »

Ever since duckhunt on nintendo I've been addicted to zapper games. To me they're even better than FPS in a way.

Just got a zapper for my Xbox with House of The Dead III and have been having a blast. Haven't got my zapper fix in a long while. Cool thing is once I beat House of the Dead III it unlocked House of the Dead II so two games for $20 isn't too bad.

Anyone else love zapper games?

I have the original nes duck hunt and it was fun. i like both fps and light gun games. look up mame and you can play the games from the arcade like time crisis, house of the dead, silent scope, and others that escape me at the moment. I'm working on making a cabinet for it and just need a gun for it.

Speaking of which what gun do you use?

I've just got one of those weird looking mdcatz guns.

Didn't know Mame had the arcade shooters. How can you hook up a light gun with them? Because without the gun it's just not the same.

I know what you mean tried playing time crisis with a mouse and its not the same. check these links for more info

http://arcadecontrols.com/arcade.htm for general info
http://guncon.acornscity.com/ for gun info and a list of light gun games

i think you need to connect your pc to a tv to use most if not all the guns.
but to connect to a pc you can use a converter.

what i plan on doing is buying the mad catz ps2 gun and using my ps2 to usb converter from radioshack (paid 16 usd) which works great with the ps2 controller. the gun is only 10 usd at walmart so i'll probably get it.

Cool thanks. Looks like they are having some problems here and there with it though. Might be a hassle but would be cool to have a full set of arcade shooters set up.

Okay i just bought a used xbox for 60 usd and want more cheap stuff so...
How much did you pay for the lightgun for hotd3? I found a used copy of the game for 17.99 usd at an ebgames and walmart has a 25 usd mad catz blaster but a ps2 gun is only 9 usd. I find that stupid and want a cheaper one for xbox so any ideas will help. thanks

Oh I splurged. I got the Madcatz zapper for $29 and HOTD3 for $20 (new) at the same time at GameStop.

On a lighter note HOTD3 also has HOTD2 on the same disk. Once you beat Hotd3 it unlocks the second one. Which I think is more fun than the 3rd except for the horrid voice acting. However you only have a pistol in 2 so you have to be more accurate, and it has some different play features.

Both are tons of finger blistering, seizure causing fun though.

Also fun with the Madcatz zapper is set it to auto reload, and full auto fire modes. Both games are still hard as heck. Took me 5 continues to beat Hotd3 this way and 7 without.
