Decent projectors or tvs

Would like to have a home theater setup but need some help. So if anyone has any advice or experience please provide insight.
For starters need to decide on what type of screen lcd projector or dlp hdtv.
next surround sound
then i would like to have a pc that can connect to the screen so i can watch movies, play games, and what not on the screen and would like a remote but this part isnt needed now as im waiting for the dual core pcs and sli cards.
my price budget is about 2000 usd but im cheap so the lower the better. that would probably mean id use the projector but i'll see what there is first. thanks.
