outdoors?

Post by kbanta11 »

I am new to Reality Factory and I want to create an outdoor area without having a cheap-looking box around my level. What do I do get a level to compile successfully without the box around it?

are you talking about the skybox?
You'll need to edit it and turn it into a sky texture. I would elaborate, but I don't know how to do it.

You have to have a box no matter what you do, but it won't look cheap, because you'll be using a skydome.

You do have to have the box, if it is, say, an outdoor type level, or the level won't compile. Make the box around your level geometry, select it, press page down and it will turn purple, as well as open the Face Attributes panel on the right side of the editor. Go to the bottom, check the Transparent box, and set the value to one (not zero), and click apply. Now place the skydome entity in your level, set it's attributes according to the help page in your RF install folder, compile your level, and you should be good to go.
