I can't import stuff into reality factory to save my live.

So I'm asking if someone can make an actor file out of this file.

I imported your file in to Milkshape but found that the hands and legs of Sonic were not attached so I didn't bother creating an actor file. I would also like to warn you about using copyrighted content in your game, Sonic is a copyrighted character and Sega could sew if you use that model in a game.

What do you think are the chances of really getting caught with this?
Now about the model. Open it with 3Ds Max or any other program that opens .3ds correctly(not like milkshape) and make whole model one group. Then import it to milkshape and arms and legs will be attached like they should be. I know this because my fried used to work with 3Ds max.

If that's your intention you need their written permission and it may incur a fee. Otherwise you run the risk of being sued for breach of copyright. Be very careful my friend, you are treading on very thin ice here.

Yeah. That's why I stray from things copyrighted and try to create a whole new intellectual property for my game.
I think if they catch you using it without permission they won't launch into a lawsuit, they'll just send you a cease and desist (basically a "stop what you're doing or we're going to take you to court") letter from their lawyer(s). And, obviously, if you continue what you're doing then they'll take legal action.
In other words, I wouldn't advise it.

You mean that you've really asked sega for it and hoped to get it for free?

....most places don't really care, as long as your not making a buck off it and not makeing their character a leader of a neo-nazi regime or other abhorent behavior you should be fine. also just credit it to sega for creating sonic, i don't really know what sega's stance on copy writing for characters are, I know places like capcom and funimation are ok with fan based remakes, so it's not automatic your gonna be sued, also they generally send you a cease and desist notice first, letting you know that they are not happy with your intentions. then if you receive that you pull it, nothing say you still can't continue your game for your own benefit though.

Spyrewolf you shouldn't be trying to encourage people to commit an offence. Breach of copyright IS an offence and using someones copyrighted property without their permission IS a breach of copyright. Morally it is NOT about whether you are caught or not, it is about doing it at all. He could face criminal charges if he uses that model without permission. It is a very dangerous game to play. We have young impressionable people on this forum, let us try and keep them law abiding.

ditto bernie.
Spyrewolf, to paraphrase what you are saying, I would put it this way: "If you're doing something illegal and don't get caught, then technically it's OK."
Like saying that if you smoked pot and nobody noticed then it's not against the law.
I wouldn't encourage such behavior... although I do have the same sentiments.

No!, you have not read what I have said properly!
Because someone owns the right to a character, does not mean that "fan fiction" or "fan based remakes" can'tbe published.
if you look at the satire clause in most legal cases, you can get away with it, because it is satire, look at "robot chicken" they use people characters all the time. -transformers, gi joe, he-man, real people, ....and they make $$$ off of it.
If someone strongly objects they'll let you know, and as i have said capcom and funimation are 2 companies that really don't care as long as you don't make money.
Lucasarts are notorious on Fanbase remakes, the ceast and desist on every thing starwarsy, ....soley 'Cos George Lucas holds a tight grip on his starwars universe and want no one to mess with his creation.
So unless your 100% sure that Sega are against this, what does it matter, and as i said, they will let you know otherwise if they are unhappy.
