Evel Knevil

I wanted to make a Jumping cars style game I tried game maker, the games factory and a few others I had limited success. If you read my posts in the main discussions board you will know I'm a beginner at this
I was told to try Reality racer and I finally got that working but could not work out what to do .....To cut a long story short I gave up on that and made about 4 rooms with platforms and I am using babe.act as the player its turned out more like a Lara croft tomb raider style game there is no weapons etc because I don't know how to do that yet so I am focusing on platform jumping

I have some platforms hard to reach etc but accessible by holding shift key to make her jump further,,,

Any way Can I change the distance she can jump?

aka my Evel Knevil idea the faster she runs the further she jumps? (She = Babe.act btw that comes with version r/f 070 by memory)

Would be cool to hold shift to accelerate her the longer you hold the faster she goes then jump then I could place platforms miles away :)

Or is this not possible :( ?

This might be possible, try and ask for help in the scripting forum.

In the playersetup entity change the gravity from the default -7.6 to -5 and
increase the jump speed from 60 to more.

Thanks Hike1

I have a problem though I could remember seeing the gravity option before I now dont have that option in playersetup?
There is enviorment set up and it has gravity set to 0 and jumpspeed set to 0 ..I am using latest version of r/f to

I will play with that see what happens :)

also when the physics are completed you may have more luck then as well, wait for nout to finish his code and im sure car games will be more readily seen in RF

To LOST, this is not a knock at RF but use 3dRad for your game, its physics and it is basically all setup for that kind of design, except for getting in the car like in GTA. 3dRad is perfect for tank, aircraft, car type games, made one myself called Pod Jumper, on alien world jumping sand dunes in a hovercraft,
anyway, it might keep you from being frustrated. Just some info from Gamemaker to Gamemaker. :)

I think I tried 3d rad once but its now http://www.3impact.com/

I am kinda happy with what I have made so far I just wanted to make the jumping a bit harder for my actor/player...the gravity and jump speed worked but Now I have to make rooms bigger etc and move platforms around thanks any way

Hi animatrix

I actualy found my old copy of 3dRad So I might try that for car jumping and stick with R/F with what I have created so far

I am starting to get the hang of R/f and 3dRad looks alien :?

But then again I might try that and wait till physics are completed what Spyrewolf said and see if I can get my babe.act jumping beter then

UpDate : Sticking with R/F  Cant compile 3d rad without purchasing a plug in....Not going to pay for a game that no one will ever play :)

I guess thats the free version, mine works fine, its not that bad to learn and the newtonian physics are top line for static models, Pod Jumper was excellent an Ice Cave Sledder was cool too, it had 4 different camera views at once and great ice driving, didnt take long to make either and it supports joystick, keys and mouse control, for fps it sucks but driving and racing it is superior, and I like RF a lot, but thats just the way it is, Ive used both intensly... :)

Check that, gravity and jump speed are in Environmental Setup entity.

I will look for them, they are only developed enough for testing and pretty basic, but I liked the physics.. :)
