i had a old level, (that lived in a shoe  )
on my old computer. when i moved it too my new computer (vista laptop) i loads up and starts playing the background noises of helicoptors and wind. but the screen is black, i cant move, and it quickly becomes nonresponsive.

What is wrong?

Also, i have another levle that loads. on my old computer when you turned to the denser part of the level at first it slowed the frame rate, no it just crashes.

I am not sure why, any guesses? and real answers.

"vista laptop" - issue because of DirectX 10?

It can't be, I use Windows Vista, on a comapq laptop running DirectX10, I have never encountered such problem...
Was the old level made in an earlier version of RF?

Make sure you have all the latest drivers for you laptop that are made for Vista. In addition, make sure you have all the latest patches for Vista. DirectX 10 is not the culprit here. DX10 is not used in Genesis therefore it cannot be the culprit. I'm betting that it's the video driver or the video card in your laptop.

what is compatibility mode?
Yes and no, i made the levels in an old version of rf but then edited them in updated versions.

compatibility mode is a sort of simulated environment ,i.e, you can simulate Xp on Vista. just rt. click on the application, properties>
run in compatibilty mode.

felt almost as good getting RF back as getting over the gastro flu, you really don't know how TOUGH getting stuff into some other game engines really is...

SHOULD have some links to the games I made in RF up and running sometime soon (these will be free)...

Oldtimers will remember Bad Medicine and maybe NewRev7...

the vid driver did the trick...
