OK... FL Studio is amazing... I'm seriously thinking about buying it. :D
The interface is a little tough for the first few minutes and then I just went crazy.
I made this little breaky loop/riff: http://ryan.gowen.googlepages.com/hip_stuff.wav
Yeah, it's a little short, but I thought it was pretty cool... only took me like 5 minutes.

Yes...FLStudio is very cool. It's limited in it's functionality though. If you want to stay with loop based music, then invest in FLStudio (the FL stands for "Fruity Loops"). If you want to get into MIDI sequencing, VST instruments and recording live instruments then I suggest you start with Steinberg Cubase. They have a personal edition. It can do loops also.

Here is a link to their demo. FLStudio Demo (75.18 MB) It is apparently hosted by another source then the original company/developers, but that is the url I got from clicking on the "DEMO" tab on their web page.

Yes. From what I can tell it's the official demo, and it's linking to Tucows I think, which is a trusted site.

The demo is fully-functional except it lacks the "save project" option - although you can still export to wav and mp3. :)

i used to make uk garage and drum and bass for my job.
i used alot of different software in my time from nuendo to logic pro and pro tools,i would say fruity loops is very limited and would surgest a program called reason instead, but cubase is quite easy to get to grips with and a good starting platform.

I did a few minutes of playing around in FL. I got together two good songs :) Once I get a bit more used to it I'll do techno at LA cafe, and possibly work on stuff for Terra Trooper

This is by far the best midi based mixers i've found. With out a midi keyboard its still awesome. First 10 minutes of playing with this program I was able to create a fairly nice beat. I bought the Fruityloops Edition just a while back. I definatly would suggest if you want to get into creating simple little songs. This is a very nice program.

 Yes I'm back. If any of you even remember me. lol Been busy with school, and didn't have time to wade through the little spam posts to find something useful. But...Finally schools slowed down so we'll see if I can't actually find some useful stuff in this place. :D

Hey! Nice to have you back jonas!

I understand the busy part of life all too well. I just come by here for breaks everyday..

I'm glad to hear some positive feed back on the program, I haven't thought much of sound design yet for my game, so I might look into it, even though I prefer free software.

well, the trial is free, everlasting, and can do everything but save in the FL format, it can still export .WAV, .MP3, or .MIDI

Thats cool, but what about the license? I don't want to get into hot water if I would ever do more with what I made with it than give it out freely in a game demo.
