The next big first person shooter....

Halo 3 has come and gone, Crysis made an epic effort at trying to convince people they could play it and be satisfied with bad graphics as they had too high of system requirements. The Orange Box from value has come to pass, and Call of Duty 4 has taken over those hurt by all the other releases. So, what game is going to be the next big FPS game? Over the past years there has always been some FPS that shakes people up and raises the bar for all games after it. My question is what game will it be as I can't find any information on the next game proclaiming to be the best to ever come.
So, what do you think will be the next Halo-Crysis-Half-Life-Call Of Duty-DOOM?

In my opinion Crysis isn't really a game, it's just a test for their new engine. If there will be Crysis 2 or something that will be a game. Call of Duty 4 is the best out of what you've mentioned. I've tried Assasin's Creed on PS3 and I can say it was very funny experience to me. You can jump from very tall buildings into a haystack and you safely land, noone else can ride horses and etc.
So, I'm waiting for COD 5, because COD 4 was pure gold.

Hmmm, tough question. 2007 was a good year for games, but some of the most anticipated games didn't sell very well despite good reviews.
As Allanon said, Left 4 Dead is looking pretty good, and I'm waiting for it despite all the delays it's had. For some reason it doesn't really look like a GOTY to me but I could be wrong.
Although I don't own a PS3,
Haze is looking hot.
Resistance 2 seems to be getting a lot of buzz, even though the first one was reportedly lackluster.
And I'm not really stoked about
Tiberium, the second FPS counterpart to the Command and Conquer world.
Let's not forget
Far Cry 2, and even though I don't like the turn they took with the whole Africa thing, the game itself looks pretty cool. Let's just hope it's not the next Crysis (i.e. Too ahead of its time).
Part of the reason I think that games like Crysis didn't sell very well is not only the system requirements themselves, but to fully take advantage of the graphics you need DX10 and Vista; however, gamers know that games run like crap under Vista. I think that the combination of the two killed the sales for the game, even though it got good reviews.
If I had to pick the most anticipated game (not necessarily FPS), I'd check off
Spore.

next fps game halo 4 (probably never going to happen)
great game that has just came out, played the demo on xbox live, Devil May cry 4
next BIG game coming Grand Theft Auto IV
really neat, not so violent game, and stunning concept Mercinaries 2: world in flames, that game should be really fun, the original for the PS2 but graphics where a little poor, now on the 360 should be a great game.
edit*
lol, i would like to say the next big fps game would be my own but thats not going to happen

I was seriously thinking the same thing about my own game. I hope my FPS can blow the doors off of the FPS genera and redefine it. Of course I could be realistic and say that could never happen, but I think anything is possible if you put your mind to it and work hard enough
.
Anyhow, aside from aspirations to make the next big game, I am still curious as to why there isn't a definitive game that is hovering out there saying its going to be the best. I think the industry has hit a lag and is currently declining. Anyhow, I'll start another thread on that.
Those are definitely some good games that are in the works. I am curious as to where the next big original or highly hyped sequel will come from because most of these are just sequels. I am talking about a Half-Life to Half-Life 2 change is what I want to see. I just thought I might have missed something in the industry because for many many years there has always been that game that claims it will change the face of gaming but right now there doesn't seem to be anything.
