Writing tutorials

Post by Sph!nx »

Still having trouble with my creative blockade, so I've decided to write some tutorials.

I've already written three introductional tutorials some time ago: Milkshape Introduction, Milkshape Interface and Faces and Shapes. I know these tutorials needs a lot of polishing but I was content with them at the time. What do you think?

I'm already working on a 'static prop' tutorial, a wooden table. Next I plan on writing a simple animated prop tutorial and an animated character tutorial. Much later, I plan on documenting what I've learned of RF.

I would very much like to hear your comments about this!

Good idea sph!nx this forum really needs a tute like this (although how many noobs will read it before asking elementary questions is anybody's guess  ). Very good so far. Perhaps you should go into depth about all the menu options too at an early stage, particularly exporting, importing and merging.

Okay, Ive done the first two parts of the static prop tutorial, a table :

Modelling a table - Introduction (a simple introduction. Needs some work later on)
Modelling a table - Making the mesh

This tutorial will eventually consist of five parts. Part three will cover making and naming groups. Part 4 will cover UV mapping and Part Five will be an indication of how to create the skin and how to get it on the model.

Suggestions, questions, crits?

Great stuff. BTW LithUnwrap comes with RF it's in the tools folder so you dont need a link.

Thanks!

I know, but I intend to write these tutorials for a wider audience. Compiling and adding the models in RF will be a subject for the tutorials specificely for RF, I intend to write later on.

Edit :
Perhaps there might be others who would like to write and 'donate' a tutorial? Would be cool if we, as a community, could create some kinf of knowledge database. I had this idea in the past but it was a bit too big to do on my own.

Just an idea.

I didn't have a lot of time to work on the tutorial but I've got the third part done. Making and naming groups. It's a bit short, but it covers everything there is about groups.

Ah, sorry. Don't know where I was with my head ...

Thanks darksmaster932! They will be added if some more people participate. We need quite some tutorials if we want to make a collection or database.

omg... I just cleaned up my websites folder and I've overwritten the tutorials folder. No problem, I have the other ones backed up but I was writing the table tutorial in this folder as well... In other words, I can start over :(
