I figured I would release a screenshot of the Jet3D World Editor (JDesigner). If you want explanations of the features, just post a reply and I will give them.

Forgive my ignorance, but Jet3D is an engine like genesis, right? And you are building a toolset just like RF for it? If so, excellent!

I do have a (personal) request though, please make the option to alter the grid and the 'snap to' functions as accessible as possible! TY :)

Jet3D is Genesis 3D v2.0. When Eclipse was bought by WildTangent in 2000, Genesis 3D v2.0 was renamed to WildTangent GameDriver. The public version of WT GameDriver became Jet3D. WildTangent no longer supports GameDriver so all that's left is Jet3D. The community took over development in 2001 from WT and was worked on until 2003 when Destiny3D was announced. I took over Jet3D in 2004 from Tom Morris (Genesis alum) and have been developing it with my team of 4 since. We had as many as 8 developers working on it at once. Jet3D has been running on DirectX 9 since 2004. Shaders are planned for the 2.7.0 release and hardware transformations are planned for the 2.6.2 release.

The snap to grid functions are accessible via keyboard shortcuts which are all programmable. Unfortunately, there is no gameshell yet. There will be a simple gameshell in the 2.6.5 release (4 releases from now).

Jet3D does use a BSP. It's a subtractive BSP like Unreal. This means that the world starts out with a large cube you cannot see and you "carve" out your level in that cube. It's like modelling clay as opposed to building blocks (Genesis). Jet3D does not require you to compile your levels and JDesigner uses the engine in it's 3D view. This gives you true realtime WYSIWYG editing.

We are going to adapt the Unreal style of world building. That is...use the BSP to build the shell of the world and use actors (static meshes) for detail.

I can use some beta testers for the editor, would you guys want to give it a shot?

I can do some simple worlds and send you my result if you'd like, but I've got stuff of my own to do as well... (We all have lives, lol)

It's just a disclaimer, nothing should happen but there is always a chance that untested software might do something unintended. In the early days of computing it was very easy to cause damage by writing to the wrong memory address. Now those addresses are protected and it's very unlikely that any damage will be cause by errors in programming but to cover his ass he needs to put the warning. I tested the program and didn't have any problems with it damaging files or my computer. Give it a try and tell us what you think of the editor and engine.

Very good this program!!! :D

For me, the program will fail if the option "File" -> "export" -> "export btProject Workspace (*. btw)" and then click on "cancel"... :(
For anyone else that happens?
Nevertheless, I see very useful program. :)

It doesn't work, says that d3dx9.dll is missing. Is there an installer to fix it?

You probably need to install DirectX 9.0
