I havent seen much of these kind of rpgs exept for Wolf Quest, but I will be working an a videogame called 'Twist of the Moon' It will be a single player wolf sim. After this project, I
may even make a similar one, but with horses based on my petsite. If its a hit, I plan to pay that lisence fee. (Sorry if my spelling is bad. I'm out of it before 11:00) More about the game bloew.

You're an orphan wolf; your parents died when you were only adolescent. Your mother would tell you stories about a treasure that would only appear when the moon became blood red, and one day you uncover an odd marking in a tree, that was the exact same one your mother would draw in the dirt while telling the story. So you must travel to an unknown land, and learn skills to uncover the treasure you've heard of as a pup.

Welcome to the Twist of the Moon!

In the game, you start out as a basic grey wolf. But you can change your color and markings using special gems that you can dig up in special areas. But be careful! You need to claim a territory first! If you dig in another territory, you'll have to battle the alpha of the pack you intruded! Hunt or steal food to survive, claim your own territory and get a den of your own. You can kill then loot other animals for scarlet leaves (money) and other collectables. Or just settle down and join an already made pack. The release date of the full beta will be in October.

Oh! A mod! *perks up* (kidding)
Yup. only 3 stats, unless you want me to add magic spells XD

1. Attack- Affects how much damage You do to enemies/prey
2. Speed- Affects how fast your wolf is
3. Defence- Affects your max HP and how well you can take hits.

4. Intelect (Maybe?) Affects how much SP (spell points) you have. It depends on if I can come up with any spells. Perhaps a freezing charm? Or a teleport spell? I dunno.

[EDIT] Here are some colors you can have for your wolf. More natural colors are lower leveled. More brighter colors make your wolf stronger than usual.

I think the game idea sounds great, but I wouldn't worry about the license fee if I were you. There is no one to pay it to anymore. The engine is simply free to use for anything you wish, but the Genesis logo will be shown. Hardly a bad thing, considering my wife gets these games from Big Fish ,and there is a minimun of four company logo screens to go through at the start of each game.

I hate to burst your bubble but...you are not selling anything made with this version of RF for a profit. It's engine is from 1996. You may want to wait for either RF2 or RF1 with Genesis 3D 2.0. Those will be more likely to compete with other titles out there.

As an example...here is a $20 title that will just blow RF away right now.

That would be more realistic. There is nothing saying that you cannot prove your idea using RF, then either wait for RF2 or RF1 with G3D 2.0 and release it for real. I would just advise against selling anything made with this version. You will not make much.

I have a suggestion for those spells. You don't really have to make them unrealistisc, like teleport or something, just something a wolf does. Like sneaking in a high grass (invisibility), jumping on your prey to knock him down, a deadly bite to the neck (Fatality! ) and (this would be hard to achieve) howling to call in more wolves to help you hunt (reinforcements)

oh! thank you! I usually have trouble with suggestions. So you'd like spells like...

-sumoning
-invisibility
-extra damage powerups

that kind of thing?
