RF Crashes When I compilev2

Hey Guys,

Well It's me again...I thought I fixed my problem of Reality Factory crashing when I compile but I was wrong. So I am going to walk you through how I make a room and please tell me what I am doing wrong. Well here we go:

First I open RF EDIT PRO and get the following screen:

Image

Then I open my .txl file, I made it in RF PACK with BMP pictures/textures:

Image

Image

Image

As you can see above my textures imported successfully but some do look distorted. Maybe it's beacuse there are over 200 textures in that txl file. But when I apply then to an object/wall they turn out fine. I just wish I could seem them in Reality Factory!!! Ah, we'll get to it. Any way we will work with the default cube. So I'll zoom out with my mouse and it will look like this:

Image

Then I pick a texture by selecting the textures tab and then click a texture I want. then just for simplicity I will hit enter on my keyboard to apply the texture to the cube while I am "inside" it. So Here is what it looks like with my chosen texture:

Image

(I have it selected so that it is easier to see where the walls meet and end with a single texture applied by the way)

then I add two things...Player Setup and Player Start:

oh, nevermind it doesn't show up in the screenshot....

Well then I hit compile and keep all default settings EXCEPT "Preview in Reality Factory"

Image

Then I go through the RF Menu (Which I have not changed or customized at all) and get this:

ok weird half of computer screen just went black after Reality Factory crashed...I just wanted to make sure I posted this but will try restarting my computer and see if my screen comes back. I'll edit this post when I get back...

EDIT:

My computer is fine...I have ni idea w that was about but thankfully I got the screenshot:

Image

So as you can see it does not work. But here is the story. After crashing RF EDIT PRO is still running fine. And I can run RF just fine by clicking the Reality factory icon in the install location. This happens on every computer I try it on by the way not just this one. And the screen thing is a first, but that seems to be fixed. Anyway please help. The only solution I have ever seen involved the ini editor but I could not find what it was saying to do.

Thank you for the help I NEED a NO-Programing 3D Game creation solution.

EDIT:

Yes!!!! Got It!!!!

I tried selecting a diffrent charchter other than "Daniel" (the first one) I ended up with Steven. And it works!!!! I was able to walk around in my little cube!!! W00t!!! I gonna go make my game now! AHHHWHOEEEE!!!!

P.S. Sorry for so many Caps....I'm just so happy now!

i have also been having the same problem but changing the character does not do anything, im on windows vista media edition and i think it actually has something to do with the renderer, although the demo level provided works.

I have tried remaking my level multiple times and cant seem to find any errors...

here is the compile stats-

Tell us this.

Are you guys using that shit OS Vista or the good old XP.

This would help us to work out the problem.

I see one has VI(Shit)TA.

For me I would go back to XP. or if you could go back to the best. and I do mean the best go to win 2000.

I've used all. from the first DOS to viSHITta, and the best is win2000.

:D I hate when I edit a post and someone posts when I edit.

The main problem is is drivers.

If you are in that VIS then you need the drivers.

MY PC messes up with RF and I use XP.

Its all down to the OS and the type of computer.

QOD is working on a new gen angine.and AndyCR is working on a new RF2

BUT MOST OF ALL OTHER PEOPLE HEVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS YOU.
SO DO A SEARCH OF THE FORUM BEFORE YOU POST TO SEE IF IT HAS
HAPPEND BEFORE.....

For some reason, I don't think it's the drivers.

So you're testing it with a very basic level? A cube with default textures with only the PlayerStart and PlayerSetup (and perhaps EnvironmentSetup) entities inside the cube? What does the RF log say? (It should be saved as RealityFactory.log in your main RF folder)

And BTW, ardent: What a nice way to welcome a new guy to the forums, eh? Dunno, maybe it's just me but somehow I could feel a bit put down if the first reaction on a board I just joined was 'Get a new OS'.
(I lol'd at your post, actually. Dunno if it's the sleep deprivation or something...)

Anyway, welcome to the forums, lucifer1101. I hope you can overcome your problems quickly so you can have a blast with RF. Trust me, it's fun. Really fun. And ignore the old farts *COUGH*ardent*COUGH* when they're fooling around!

thankyou for you warm welcome juutis, i have come to expect unwelcoming messages when my first post is about a glich or a bug.

As for the level yes it is very basic with a few solid cubes to form a room and the default textures, i have three entities as you mentioned the two player ones and the environment setup.

My log is as follows although it was only last updated yesturday at 6:40 pm and i have tried the level since...

If the demo levels work then the problem is on the other side of the screen.

Wait... Two Player ones? Do you mean two PlayerStart entities? If that's true, then i think i can imagine what went wrong here. The engine detects two PlayerStart entities and tries to start a Multiplayer game (because there are 2 Players)
Client Timeout waiting for Acceptance
[WARNING] Cant Begin Multiplayer session
But as it can't find another Player, it just shuts down.

Are you sure you have one PlayerStart and one PlayerSetup in the level? The PlayerStart and PlayerSetup are absoulutely neccesary. The EnvironmentSetup is nice to have, but the game can run without it.

I cannot think of anything else. If it's not that, then i really have no clue.

Oh yes and welcome to the forums.
