I want to use Milkshape3D for creating my pawns, player, etc. I understand that the .BDY files within an .ACT file contain all of the geometry and bones while the .MOT contain the animations of the pawn for example.

My question is since I can export to both the .MOT and .BDY file formats, do I export my pawn to both these files and then build an .ACT?

Yes you export the .bdy file and then a seperate .mot file for each animation.

Then you combine them all in actorstudio to create the .act with all the animations.
