About DrawFlipBookImage

Hey guys, has anyone had the ZDepth parameter actually changing anything with the DrawFlipBookImage command. I could imagine it had to be in between 0-1 because of the ZBuffer range (which also ranges from 0-1). Or does it have to be negative?
If it doesn't work at all this would be sad, because with this we would be able to make backgrounds that are at a specific distance from the player, and that background could even be transparent (you could build your own fog, background, etc)
