Its just an m16a4 rifle I made for a friend, no skins or anything. But I will create skins for it. Just need someone to critique it right now. (sorry if pictures are too big)

Wow that is HOT! Is it normal mapped? Anyway only comment is the stock is pretty smooth, if it needs fewer polys you might wanna start there. How many polys is it?

Thanks, no it is not normal mapped. It is uh, 1733 polys. Too much for RF, but have no fear, I have another low poly model suitable for RF. Probably going to release all the models I've made for free

Surely 1700 isn't too much nowadays? Even with RF, it should be ok. IDK, been too long since I've tried anything with RF.

1700 polys is very little nowadays, but RF can't really support that, sadly

Let's hope Genesis 2.0: Phoenix comes fast (I think it's the RF085 release). RF080 will also make RF go a bit faster, at least if you are using a card that supports PhysX. The card then takes off the Physics work from the CPU, which then again makes RF go a bit faster. (The CPU then has more time to render the frames, i think)
Also, nice rifle with good detail in it.

The PhysX processor does take the calculation load off the CPU. The goal of most games is to use the CPU only for AI. Have the GPU handle all graphics and the PPU (Physics Processing Unit) handle all the physics. Most CPUs are multicore nowadays so if RF 0.80 can take advantage of threading you will be able to push more polys to it.

We'll certainly see what Quest comes up with, when RF .80 is released

I finally finished skinning the damn thing, heres 3 small pictures of it (imageshack resized the pictures

). I feel that it's missing something though. Admittedly I'm not a very good skinner, but I'm pretty proud of this one.

You have officially surpassed me at 3D modeling and game design in general. GJ!

Nice work there. Some of the details could be painted on the texture instead of using polygons, though. But I don't think that's important, since isn't very suitable for RF anyway.

The trigger.

Zany : Why thank you zany, although I'm not so sure about the game design part.
Juutis : I always forget to throw that in. I might just model it in and give it a tiny piece of the texture.

Just pretend that it's a futuristic gun that fires by detecting finger prints on a point on the handle :p
