Free 2D multiplayer game creator

Hey guys, I got an awesome idea for a game, perfectly thought out, with some sprites done already.

I wanted to create this game after playing DIPRIP, a mod for HL2, awesome, but without players. So I wanted to create this game for me and my friends to enjoy.

Ofcourse, I went for 2D, since top down racing is perfectly fine for us and what I want to do. I looked at Torque gamebuilder, Gamemaker, but they all require money .

What game creation tool lets me create 2d multiplayer games? Preferably without programming and certainly free.

I know what I'm asking for is mission impossible, but if you know something, please help.
