Need a team for a Zoid/mech-ish game

Post by Iron Mike »

thread link is here: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=4676&p=36426#p36426

but basically I need scripters, texturers, people who are more familiar with the tools of RF and entity, voice actors, people who can make sound effects or obtain them, and other modelers.

Who's interested? the game is explained in the link provided.

You might get a scripter interested, but I suggest you learn to do the art side of things yourself. You've got modeling down, now you need to learn animation and texturing. Sounds will be best found on the internet or made yourself. As for voice acting, you may get several people for that when you've shown that this game will get finished, and won't be yet another shelved, half-done attempt.

What modeling program do you use? Google for tutorials on animating with it.

3ds max 09 .got a free copy thanks to an old friend of mine from my old middle school who ran the programs for educational reasons. taught myself on gmax, then she gave me the copy of max. said I needed it. I said thanks and wow, its soooo much better than gmax.

i know how to model in max, and i know how to animate even better. my problem is getting the animations into entity/RF. i just dont know how the process goes. what do I export as? etc.

There is and exporter for *.max files Search the forum for max exporter. I think it was allanon who made one for max9. Export as *.nfo (mesh) and *.key(animation) and then import in Equity to build a *.act file.

thanks guys, so I just make my animation, export it as .key, and take the mesh without any anims and export that as .nfo? sweet. ill get ahold of those plugins right away. but does it matter what bone system I use? id like to create a custom bones system rather than using the biped bone system that 3ds max has for normal human models, and its a pain trying to make it work for a zoid, especially since the human biped doesnt have a tail.

I don't think so but make sure you don't use weighted vertices as they are not supported for RF1.

EDIT: I just thought of another way. If you don't have any luck finding an nfo/key exporter for max9 you can get an ogre mesh/skeleton exporter for max9 and equity will load that and create an act file for you.

thanks destron, sounds helpful. I'll definately need sound effects, though I have music covered, though Id probably ask you to do some music anyway because I have more than just music to work on.
