Hello there,
If you've read the forums lately, you might have seen a couple of posts by me and EvilDraggie. In our spare time, we are working on a ambitious indie game project using RF. Its going to be a first person game, with strong emphasis on survival and horror atmosphere. Think of Amnesia: The Dark Decent but with more survival elements, and ofcourse a different story (which is still being worked on). We dubbed it Night of Legacy, but this is still something that can change during the development.
What we have so far, is a torch-system which is going to be a important source of light in the game (think of it as our version of the lantern in Amnesia). In the game (which takes place at around 1700) you can find lit torches on the walls, which you can pick up with a press of a button and carry with you as your source of light. Naturally, the torch will burn up in a set time, and the light deminishes. From that point, the torch is useless and you can drop it to the floor using another key.
We are now working on a interior level, which we are going to use as a test for creating our first texturepack, models, and we also want to use it as a showcase for our first screenshots.
Our way of making sure that the game a) looks good, and b) still runs good, is by making the levelstructure with very basic BSP designs, and then doing all the details using models. This way, we hope to keep the frame-rate steady, while still being able to showcase some nice details, lights, and bumpmapping here and there. We want to push RF / Genesis 3D to the limit graphically.
Our 'team' now consists of me doing the level design (BSP), and EvilDraggie doing the models and scripts. Because work is very slow this way, we are searching for people to help us. It is ofcourse a 'hobby'-project, and we both have regular jobs during the week, so we are doing this for the love of games, and ofcourse for the ambition of creating a fresh and thrilling experience. We expect the same from anybody who would like to help us. So don't worry about any kind of deadline or anything. Creating art takes time!
We are mainly looking for experienced scripters / programmers to help us out, but if you have ideas for a story or anything, feel free to leave a message! We are using MSN as our main tool to communicate during the week, so it would be nice to be available on MSN.
Anyway, hope to see a reply soon!
