After playing A few games (to get ideas) I've decided that alot of a good game (besides control) is the sound. Does anybody know of any good free but easy to use programs for music, or sound effects?

thanks.

I'm using ModPlug tracker for music: http://www.modplug.com

You can also use Skale Tracker, but it's much more complex and difficult to handle - at least in my opinion: http://www.skale.org

There's also one really good midi sequencer, "Frieve music studio producer", that you can download at http://www.frieve.com/english.

Anybody know of a free (or really cheap) 4-track(or even 2 track) recorder? I
have Cool Edit, but it would be nice to recommend a free one.

Hmmm...

"Krystal Audio Engine", maybe? It's an open-source sequencer, often compared to Cubase, but without MIDI support:

pyscle is pretty good. Its free open source, and easy to use I don't have the link right now so try googling it.

I already had the Kristal thing but never installed it, it works, I
made a 3-track with the microphone, does anyone know how
to monitor the current track? I couldn't hear my voice in the speakers until I played it back.

I can't get real-time monitoring because this machine has only
a Creative Ensoniq from 2000, no ASIO drivers. I'll try it on
my Live audio machine.

I made a 10-track in Kristal with an SB Live, me mumbling, my dog barking.

before it wouldn't make any more tracks, that's 6 more than my paid-for Cool Edit 2000. It also does real-time monitoring on
another cheapie Sound Blaster, might be an Ensoniq. I looked
at Psycle, it looks like some kind of midi thing, no microphones allowed. Somewhere in there my Sound Blaster PCI es 1371
developed a terrible stutter when I loaded a .wav file, then it
would reboot the computer. Finally had to pull it out and put
the Sb Live in.
