:?: For some reason, after the intro when running a compiled test level, it just closes. No error message, nothing...
Ideas? :?:

Thanks for the welcome! :D
Now, I don't seem to have any .log files as far as this folder is concerned.
Ideas?

hmm. it might appear as simply "realityfactory" with a text file icon if you have show extensions disabled.

Hmm. Two questions. Did you modify any of the texture packages or actors, and two, what kind of video card do you have? (You can find out in Control panel, system, device manager, display or something like that)

Well, as far as I know, I have not edited anything of that sort. And as far as my video card goes, I can't seem to figure it out. :?
Well, I don't know. This is quite confusing...
Sorry if I seem like I know nothing about computers...

no problem. try this. open d3d24.ini and replace:

ExtraTextures=(whatever, dont know what the default is)

with:

ExtraTextures=0

save the file, then try to run it.

The default is zero...
Wow, if only this would load. :cry:
Well...I know I'll be happy with what I can do with this program once it does. :D

hmm. I've never had trouble getting it to run (until recently on my desktop, and ive given up on that till i get a new case with new cooling), so I think i'll have to pass it on to someone else to answer...

wait... open realityfactory.ini, and change the line:

Driver=d3d

to:

Driver=opengl

save, then try.

From your log file it seems that you're using an older version of RF, you might try updating to the current release (v0.75)
Does the demo game work?
Do you start the game from the editor or by clicking on the realityfactory.exe
Where exactly does it crash? After the Genesis3D logo? After the RF intro logo? When starting a New Game in the game menu? (from the log file it seems that you're starting a new game from the game menu, but just to make sure...)
The RF logo-avi might cause problems on some systems that don't have the correct codec, try to disable the logo (in the IniEditor uncheck Use 1st logo, Use 2nd logo).
CGenesisEngine::BeginFrame failed often indicates that there is a wrong sized texture (texture dimensions must be a power of 2, i.e. 64x64, 128x128, 256x256, 512x512), so what textures/actors are you using?
To find out about your video card, you may use the DXCapsViewer (in the RF tools folder) or just go to the Windows Device Manager (in win2000/xp you should be able to open the Device Manager by double-clicking on the System icon in Control Panel, choosing the Hardware tab, and clicking Device Manager)

Well, I've gotten it to open. But for some odd reason, when I run in preview, the whole screen is inverted. The mouse cursor goes opposite directions, screen's upside-down, etc.
Ideas?
