Thinking of a game...

Post by titan3 » Sun Aug 14, 2005 1:43 pm

Hey ppl, In about 4 months there is a really big IT contest in my country(romania) and I being a cg artist( specialised in 3dsmax low poly modeling and animation) was hope-ing to make an aplication( hopefully a game) that will basicly blow everyone away. What I'm looking for is a partner that is well aqueinted with RF and that can do most of the game asembly(building the level using well defined blueprints, importing characters and props done by me in 3dsmax...). Togheder we'll decide on a story(altough I already have one I'm always open to new ideeas). I'm really looking to push this engine to it's limits, use it's every feature such as normal mapping and so on, because i really want to get a max payne 1 kinda look :). This project will not be comercial so there is no money involved..just fame and glory for your portofolio as I'm looking to have the splashscreen of the game feature about 5 signatures kida like : rated excellent by.. or aprooved for it's quality content by... some of the big dogs from the game industry(wich some also happen to be my friends :P) . If you're interested and would like to help out contact me through yahoo (dead_ghost66) , but remember I only want one partner.

i would like to help but realy im fairly new to RF not knowing much about it but if i can help in anyway i would, i have a bit of spare time, i started amking a game my self, i then found a btea test game, so i thought it aint gona be beta for long so i went and played that for a bit, the beta test for the game is almost over so i have some time, so if you need some help im offering but im sorta limited. there is an example of what i have done in the forum viewtopic.php?t=85 its a basic room with lighting effects and can use the model function for doors and platforms and othe basic stuff. so like i sed if you want any help im always here

very good scott, what I saw was truely all I need now I must know if you can import objects/characters from 3dsmax and apply the textures i provide correctly...and create an standalone aplication(the game itsself). If you can then I've found myself a partner!!!! And we'll get to the really fun part(building the game itsself wich will be a rather easy and fast ;) )

about importing objects: well not as yet but, i am a fast learner, and there is alot of stuff on that topic within the forum and help, ill have alook and have a practice, it shouldnt be too hard and once i have got it into RF itself i can apply textures i have done alot of that. and about the .exe it shouldnt be hard i have never had to do it because ive never made a game before but like i sead i can try, and we have some time to go till that stage.
the only thing i am not good at is all that stuff with actors and changing players, as yet again, i havnt tryed yet.

what you saw was all i have done, i havnt changed the charactor yet as this wasnt a priority.

i have done a bit of converting, i cant remember what i converted them from but as soon as they are converted to a RF file the rest is easy.

what is the type of game you are hoping to make?

ill have a look at how to convert them, it shouldnt be too hard to do.

I would recomend gmax when u dont have milkshape to convert the stuff. just use the nfo exporter and the graber for the maxlistner and volia it works almost as fast as all the other export programms...ok not really...but almost

I fu want to export static mesh u have to use the genesis bdy exporter and when u have an actor first export him fully boned and rigged to the bdy file format and than everyanimation to the genesis mot files....i wish i had milkshape but i dont want to buy it so i have to use gmax which is pretty cool for animation though with IK....

Same here. Milkshape is amazing thinking of the Import/Export functions and good for modelling and animation, too, but i am out of money the whole time.
I suppose to enter the contest you have to be 18(or you enter and they laugh at you...)? I am not old enough. And i have my own project (even if i can get it 'on ice' for a time to make the 'Medival Times' game; http://towersoftrembolon.superprovider.de/Gallery.html )
Everyone can see the difficult, but only the wise can see the simple.
